Longtime local minor hockey coach and executive Tony Mandarelli has been named general manager of the London Nationals.
The former Junior C GM was the architect of the Lambeth Lancers squad that advanced to the Schmalz Cup semifinals in 2018. He replaces Tim Simmons, now director of hockey operations for the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League.
“Tony did a great job in Lambeth and he’s a good hockey guy,” Nats owner Paul Duarte said. “We’ll let Colin Martin (and staff) run the x’s and o’s and Tony and I will run the front office.”
Mandarelli has coached hockey in London and area for more than four decades. He is currently head coach of a London Jr. Knights AA U14 team.
Coming off a loss to Komoka, the Nationals (8-3) face the first-place Leamington Flyers Wednesday, 7 p.m. at Western Fair.
