London Knights property Logan Mailloux was one of six players honoured by the Ontario Hockey Association in its annual top prospects listing Tuesday.
The second-round defenceman had a standout Junior B rookie season with the London Nationals, scoring 18 goals and 68 points in 48 games to lead all Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League rookie rearguards. The 6-foot-3, 214-pounder also racked up 94 penalty minutes on the first-place club.
The 17-year-old Belle River native, who played in four OHL games this past season, is expected to become a regular on the Knights’ blue-line and should be a highly-touted prospect for the 2021 NHL draft. He was named the GOJHL Western Conference’s rookie of the year, most outstanding rookie defenceman and defensive player of the month for December.
Mailloux joined forwards Ryan Alexander (St. Michael’s Buzzers), Ryan Tverberg (Toronto Jr. Canadiens), Cole O’Hara (North York Rangers), fellow d-man Brendan Kennette (Burlington Cougars) and Listowel Cyclones goalie Dixon Grimes as the province’s top prospects.
